our firm.  Having been born and raised in Washington, Utah,

leave home and move far away to Ivins, Utah.  He has been with

The Tax Company since 2012 and is proud to be both a husband and a

father of 4 boys, including a set of twins!  Travis enjoys the outdoors, sports and spending time on white sandy beaches.

Michael ran cross-country and track at SUU as well as founded SUU’s ping-pong club. He enjoys golfing, running, and rock climbing and is so charismatic that if he were to pat you on the back, you would list it on your resume.

Aubree Hughes, Customer Service

Aubree grew up in Panguitch, Utah. She earned

a degree in culinary arts at Utah state and has yet to

make brownies for the office.  Before moving to

St George she worked at a title company and now is

working on her license to become an Appraiser. In 2023

she had the honor of representing her hometown as Miss

Garfield County.  She has a deep love of dogs and has 5 long-haired German Shepherds that she is training to be show dogs!  When she greets you at the door or on the phone, you should listen carefully because her two cents is worth $37 in change!

Shawn Hirschi, Tax Professional

Shawn was born and raised in Washington, Utah. He

came to The Tax Company with a rich background

in banking and investments. He graduated from UVU

with a B.S. in Financial Planning. He specializes in

individual and multi-state returns.  Anyone fortunate enough to work with Shawn will quickly realize that his personality is so magnetic that he is unable to carry credit cards.  In the most loving husband category, he recently married the love of his life, Sarah whom he patiently dated long-distance while she finished school in Missouri.  Shawn loves music, movies, and in his spare time enjoys hiking in the beautiful outdoors.

Jeremy Harris, EA

Despite being a BYU fan, Jeremy is an excellent

accountant!  Originally from Orem, Utah, Jeremy has a

master’s degree in Accounting from Southern Utah

University and is an Enrolled Agent.  When not busy doing taxes,

he helps run the family business, Rocky Mountain Radiator.  After nearly a dozen years of searching through the desert sands, Jeremy convinced a beautiful girl named Danielle to be his wife.  They have two princess-loving daughters that keep them on their toes.

Janette Ahquin, Payroll Specialist

Janette is our payroll specialist.  She is as consistent

and reliable as you would expect any accountant to be.

She is so good with numbers that she has counted to

infinity, twice!  Before coming to The Tax Company, she

and her husband Joe owned and operated a treatment

facility center for troubled youth.  Together they have four great children and are active members of their church.  In her spare time, Janette likes to read and spend time with her family.

Teancom Denevan, Tax Professional

Teancom, named after a warrior from The Book of
Mormon and has been is with The Tax Company since

2024. He served a full-time mission in Washington

State without becoming a vampire and has a background in improv comedy.

He graduated as valedictorian from Utah Tech University and holds a Master's degree in accountancy. Teancom is still seeking the love of his life but isn't worried because when opportunity knocks, and he's not home, opportunity waits.

Devin Lowder, Tax Professional

We are pleased to have Devin as the newest addition

to the Tax Company family.  Originally from Utah County,

Devin and his wife of three daughters.  Apparently, he is

destined to be surrounded by beautiful women.

A graduate of Utah Tech University, Devin has a masters of accountancy and a plethora of real-word experience.  He is a great listener and is not afraid to take the IRS to task when required.  In fact, he has so much charisma that his phone is addicted to him.  Before coming to The Tax Company, Devin worked in the furniture business, so we thought it appropriate that he occupy a richly appointed office where he enjoys meeting with his clients.

Jenessa Caver, Administrator

Born and raised in Washington, Utah, Jenessa was a

track star in high school.  She attended BYU and

Southern Utah University before serving a mission in

Uruguay.  She is the newest of newlyweds here at The

Tax Company having married the love of her life in the fall of 2025.  Jenessa is an extremely hard worker assisting in both bookkeeping as well as customer service.  She is brave enough to work here with two of her brothers and is convincing enough that if she were to mispronounce your name, you would be compelled to change it.  They say that if you need something done, give it to a busy person and that describes Jenessa to a tee.

What the heck is an EA? (or did you just mis-spell CPA?)

Enrolled Agents (EAs) are America's Tax Experts! EAs have been around since the Civil War and are the only federally licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxation with unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS.   The enrolled agent came about in 1884 when, Congress passed the Horse Act to regulate persons assisting citizens filing claims for reparations against the U.S. Government for property commandeered during the war effort.  This function was expanded to include the income tax when the 16th amendment was ratified in 1913.  In fact, until 1936, both attorneys and CPAs were required to sit for the Enrolled Agent exam in order to practice before the IRS.

Another little-known advantage of using an Enrolled Agent is “client privilege”, which allows confidentiality between the taxpayer and the enrolled agent under situations involving audits and collection matters.
